Sarah Brahim | Videoart installation

A Sarah Brahim’s choreographic research using video and performance to illuminate questions of embodiment and cycles of connection.

Synopsis
“We are pressed forward by the reality of constant change. By using choreography focused on movement we can process the human condition in a way that allows us to cast light on the sentient, active, personal, objectified, social, and spatial body. Veering between moments of internal speculation fluidly moving through metamorphoses from the human figure into light image, into sound, and back again. The process will use choreographic games and tasks as well as improvisation as a core tool for cultural transmission of expression.
Practicing futures through voicing and embodiment while searching to connect and evolve in a constant state of becoming.” (Sarah Brahim, 2021).

Behind the Production

Multichannel projection.

The film contains choreographed and spontaneous movement flowing between individual and group moments. Specific gestures such as those coming from the hands to amplify and harness the symbolism and communicate through the body.
We utilize color in a strong way to emphasize curiosity, sensation, and the energy that’s possible through the moving body.
The filming of the video art work was conceived having in mind the layout of the different video projection channels, in order to build a multivisual experience that could be enjoyed both frontally and dynamically, walking between the screens.
The final effect is a digital choreography made of life-size silhouettes that interact directly with the viewer, leading him to physically interact with the issues related to the embodiment.
